Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to use it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

While many players would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car Homer built himself in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Instead, fans will obtain the family's everyday well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic element of the series. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the only customization item from the show arriving in Rocket League. The event will additionally feature a series of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your navigation is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears fans will also receive wheels with a TV showing the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the extensive Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new map of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
